Website conventions - Introduction
In contemporary cinema websites are a crucial element of a film's marketing campaign, they are often created early in the film's marketing campaign around the release of teaser posters and teaser trailers.
Audiences are encouraged to visit and revisit the website to help build excitement ahead of the films release. On the website they will find a range of trailers and other video material, images from the film, possibly games they can play and a range of information regarding the film's story, it's characters and when the film will be released.
Like other forms of marketing material websites incorporate a series of conventions regardless of the genre. I am going to look at the websites for three recent film releases from films from genres to see if the conventions are similar.
