Website conventions - Aquaman

The website for Aquaman contains the following conventions, typical of movie websites.

  • The first time the consumer enters the website, a recent trailer for the film pops up.
  • Menu bar/navigation bar appearing at the top of the home page containing a number of links to other pages of the site such as videos, story, gallery, shop, a game fans can play and worldwide release dates.
  • Social media links including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • A dominant central image featuring characters from the movie which takes up most of the home page.
  • The title of the film in the same font that has been used on other elements of the marketing campaign such as the trailer and the poster.
  • Reviews which suggest that the film has already been released.
  • Production company logo.
  • There is a release date, though because the film has already been released it says "now playing in theatres".
  • Reference to format, "in imax real 3D".
  • A button that allows you to buy tickets.
  • Links to terms and conditions at the bottom of the home page.
  • A link that enables you to share the site with others.
  • The homepage also contains links to other films and characters created by the production company DC.
